Optics: ROADM / WDM – Next Generation Optical Networking

What is ROADM?

ROADM is a reconfigurable add-drop multiplexer that adds the ability to remotely
switch traffic from a WDM system at the wavelength layer. This allows individual
or multiple wavelength carrying data channels to be added and/or dropped from
a transport fiber without the need to convert the signals on all of the WDM channels
to electronic signals and back again to optical signals.

This technology is the foundation for the next generation of agile optical networks
which enriches traditionally static non-optical networks, with flexibility, scalability
and simplicity .

ECIs WDM/ROAM network solutions work seamlessly with the other ECI products
and therefore offer a complete solution in connection ECIs 1Net technology.

The optical EXDM platform has been proven and tested in daily use. It is the best of
its class and brings operators savings in Capex (capital expenditure) and Opex
(operational expenditure).
